GASTONIA HONEY HUNTERS ANNOUNCE NEW PLAYER/COACH

The Gastonia Honey Hunters have a new player/coach for the 2023 season.

Mauro “Goose” Gozzo will be taking the mound once again. After playing his last professional game in August of 1994, Gozzo has spent the last five months training and throwing to get his arm back into the groove.

“We are happy to support Goose with this endeavor,’ said Brady Salisbury, Assistant General Manager, “Goose has been working nonstop to get his arm back into shape during the last few months and I think it’s a great example of determination for the guys to see.”

Gozzo spent six years at the major league level during the early nineties and has spent the last two seasons as Team Manager for the Gastonia Honey Hunters. Through launching the team, to building and leading a winning team in 2022, Goose has been a pivotal piece for the organization.

“I can’t wait to get back to Gastonia and show the fans what I’ve been working towards,” said Mauro “Goose” Gozzo, Team Manager, ‘but most importantly APRIL FOOLS!”

The 2023 Gastonia Honey Hunters season begins on Friday, April 28, 2023 with first pitch set for 6:35 PM. Tickets can be purchased now online at Gohoneyhunters.com/singlegametickets or by visiting the box office.
