2022 HOST FAMILY PROGRAM

The Gastonia Honey Hunters Host Family Program is an exciting opportunity to learn and share in the life of a minor league baseball player. Host families are not financially compensated, but the chance to experience the day to day life of a minor league ballplayer is an opportunity few people will ever have. You, as a host family, will be a big part of their success with the Honey Hunters and in their career as a baseball player.

The Gastonia Honey Hunters are looking for host families in the community to house one or more players for the 2022 season. Players will be in need of housing from Mid-April through the end of the season.

Ideal Host Families:

●       Commit to the entire season (April 1st -October 1st)

●       Provide player(s) with his own room (although multiple players can share)

●       Access to bathroom, kitchen and laundry

●       Provide a clean, safe, and healthy home environment

●       Host families must be very understanding of the player’s hectic schedule

Host families have a large responsibility, but there are perks for taking on that responsibility. Mainly, you will become a member of the Honey Hunters family and at a vital piece in the success of the team.

To thank our host families:

●       Season Tickets to Honey Hunters home games

●       Host Family events

  •        Invitation to Honey Hunters player pre-season dinner on night before the season begins for up to four family members

  •        Invitation to join COO David Martin in a Cabana Suite during the 2022 season

  •        Fan Appreciation Night Recognition

●       (1) Honey Hunters Jersey per family

●       20% Discount in the Honey Hunters Team Store

What to expect from your experience:

●       Building a bond with a player that will last well beyond the final game of the season

●       A mature and respectful individual who will represent the team, city and, by extension, their host family with the utmost class and professionalism that is also expected of them by the team

●       The opportunity to make a positive impact on the future of a young man

●       Player will often not be home

●       Players will provide their own transportation

●       Players will be arriving home late at night and or early in the morning after games

●       Remember baseball is their passion. There will be good and bad days

●       Players may have families and friends visit during the summer. It is up to the host family whether to allow visitors to stay in the home

●       Host families must understand that player personnel changes can and do occur before and during the season, i.e., trades, injuries and releases which may impact player housing assignments
